If walls could telling us stories…!

Vác – situated only 20 minutes from the capital – is a beautiful city in the Danube Bend. Most of the houses were built in baroque stile after the Turks left the country. The city has an ideal geographic situation: as city at the Danube you can also visit it by boat or you can just use the ferry to discover also the other side of the river, to continue your way to Visegrád or Esztergom.

Walking in the city you can enjoy the milieu of a small city with many stories, legends, while enjoying the calm and silence. Discovering the churches is a must here! Church of the Whites is the most well known building on the main square. The name comes from the white reverend worn by Dominican monks. The unique Baroque burial place was found in the cript of the church by archeologists what is exhibited now in the Museum Memento Mori.

This is a city which was also visited by Maria Theresia! For this visit a late-Baroque, neo-Classic arch was built by Bishop Migazzi on the basis of Canevale’s plan.

So it doesn’t matter from which direction you came this city is worth for a visit!
